The UK standard aluminium ventilated facade, this system incorporates the CGL CS3 support system and 2 or 3mm thick aluminium cassette panels. The system features are -

  • Good panel flatness
  • Modular shadow joints
  • Polyester paint or anodised post-fabrication finish
  • 25 year warranty over finish
  • Wide metallic and flat colour range allows colour flexibility
  • Short fabrication and coating lead times

Case Study

Project: Ramada Encore Hotel, London
Architect: Hamilton Associates
Installer: Parry Bowen Limited

This new hotel development was designed by Hamilton Associates who wished to create a landmark project by the use of a stunning red polyester paint finish to the 3mm thick cassette panels supplied as the external element of the CGL Aluminium Rainscreen System. In addition, the colour was applied to a 70% gloss factor and to extremely tight thickness parameters, as variable coating thicknesses show up as different colour opacities. The project was successfully completed in April 2004 and has met the client's aspirations.

CGL Aluminium Rainscreen System

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The system comprises 3103H14 alloy cassette panels, post coated with either polyester paint, or J57S alloy, post coated by anodising, which are secret fixed to the CGL CS3 extruded aluminium hanging system. Being a rainscreen system, this facade is ventilated and requires to be hung from a structural internal wall which is air-impermeable, insulated, and acoustically satisfactory. The cavity between the backing wall and rainscreen is pressure equalised and thus inhibits the ingress of driven rain and also allows any penetrating moisture to dry out naturally. All are independently tested and are also compliant with the 'Standard for Ventilated Facades' as produced by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology at Bath University.

ALUMINIUM
3103H14 / J57S aluminium sheeting are structurally- strong aluminium alloys in 2 or 3mm thickness and have good flatness and structural performance under imposed loadings. A wide variety of sheet widths and lengths is readily available in mill finish and this aids when projects have a wide colour mix or small quantities. CGL has developed extensive expertise in fabricating cassettes , cappings, curved details, and louvres from these materials and takes full responsibility for designing the structural attachment and stiffening of the panels.

FINISH
Polyester powder coating is applied by Interpon or Synthapulvin approved applicators to BS6496. Anodising is carried out by approved applicators to BS 1615 or 3987

CGL SS3 SUPPORT SYSTEM
Rainscreen support system technology under the CGL brand gives the installer total flexibility to produce a flat, modular facade to exceptional tolerances. Essentially a vertical rail system with wall brackets, the design detail built into the extrusions and tension cam connectors is unequalled in this market. All materials are aluminium, stainless steel, and neoprene compression gaskets.

MAINTENANCE
Generally, painted aluminium facades should be washed down annually with clean water, a neutral cleaning agent, and a soft applicator. This regime will assist in achieving the expected longevity in excess of 25 years.

WARRANTY
CGL Systems offers warranty over system design and performance for varying periods dependent on location and material used, covering replacement of defective product.
